Glitnir Bank has led the banking sector in supporting geothermal power. The bank is a global niche player in two specialized industry sectors, sustainable development of the seafood industry and growth in the geothermal energy, with 13 percent of the bank's loan book and 43 percent of its corporate advisory services derived from these sectors in 2007.

The Bank's Geothermal Energy Team is present at all the major geothermal energy events, including the biggest Geothermal Energy event in the United States, the "Geothermal Energy 2008 Conference &  Expo" October 5-8 in Reno, Nevada.

"Every year, the Geothermal Energy Conference & Expo (formerly GEA Trade Show and GRC Annual Meeting) hosts a wide range of companies from the U.S. and abroad with the geothermal power industry. The event is expected to draw more than 1,000 participants and represents more than 70 companies in the accompanying trade show.

The Geothermal Energy Industry in the U.S. and elsewhere sees an increasing interest and this will be the biggest event of its kind for the industry in the U.S.
